Narrative
CAD NARRATIVE ( FRF171022033787 ): Incident Type- COMMERICAL/INDUSTRIA Originally dispatched as a fire alarm and upgraded to a structure fire. Batt. 5 arrived on scene with nothing showing. Upon our arrival we were met outside by employees telling us that a sprinkler head had activated in the cooler and that the building had been evacuated. Once we got to the cooler we found no fire, but moderate smoke inside and a sprinkler head flowing. Once we were sure there was no fire we had an outside crew find and shut the sprinkler system down. After the water flow subsided we were able to see that there was nothing burned, but the evaporator fans were hot (250 degrees). The sprinkler head that activated was beside the evaporator fans and it appeared that the heat from the fans popped the sprinkler head. We secured power to the cooler, and went to the roof to turn off the condenser. Once that was done the temperature in the fans began to come down. Once the fans cooled down to below 150 degrees we turned the property over to the manager, making sure that they were aware of the City's fire watch policy. They had a restoration company and the sprinkler company on the way, along with the HVAC company that worked on the system earlier today. R-1 in service.
